Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a permanent cosmetic treatment that replicates the look of natural hair follicles through the use of carefully applied pigments. SMP is the leading non-surgical solution for hair loss and, for the high percentage of men who deal with this challenging issue, it can be absolutely life changing. Whether you struggle with male pattern baldness, a thinning hairline, or alopecia, SMP can be used to help camouflage your hair loss in a natural-looking way.
SMP for men is typically used to achieve the look of a full head of shaved hair. Our artist Zoe can use SMP flexibly to accomplish a variety of looks within this category. During your initial consultation at Queen of SMP, you’ll discuss your aesthetic goals for your SMP with Zoe, including how dense you want your hair, whether you want a sharper hairline or a more blended hairline, and the level of darkness you’d like. Zoe’s ultimate goal is always to ensure that her patients feel completely satisfied with their final results, so she will assess your skin tone, hair color, and current level of hair loss in order to create a style that suits your desired aesthetics while also blending in naturally with your current skin and hair.
FAQ
What style of hair will I have when it’s done?
The most common look seen on men with SMP is a buzz cut, but that’s not the only possibility. It depends on how much hair you have, age, and other factors. We can work with you to find an option that looks great!
How do I maintain my look?
SMP is semi-permanent and requires little maintenance. The most important to watch for is sun exposure. Skin treated with SMP should not be tanned because if your skin on your scalp gets tanned it not only fill fade the pigment faster but the treatment can look much lighter with the darker skin. If this happens and you want to keep the tanned look, come back in and we can darken your treatment to match your desired skin tone.
You’ll also need to come in for follow up appointments every 6-12 months to maintain the treatment. SMP treatments usually last around 3-5 years without care.
Will it look like makeup?
Yes. It’s like an ultra-realistic tattoo where we place thousands of tiny dots on the thinning and bald portions of your head to mimic the look of hair follicles using special mineral inks.
