Scar Camouflaging After Cosmetic Surgery
A facelift or brow lift can take years off your face. However, these surgical treatments will also leave behind scars at the area of incision. A brow lift can leave scarring at or behind the hairline, while a facelift can leave scarring at several points along the hairline, including above the ear and behind the ear. The visibility of facelift and brow lift scars can vary depending on your hair density and the skill of your plastic surgeon. But these scars are always there and many people worry about whether or not they can be seen by others.
If you’re concerned about your facelift or brow lift scars, know that Scalp Micropigmentation can typically work wonders to conceal them. Scars from these treatments are usually located at or under the hairline, making SMP the perfect way to permanently blend them in with the rest of your skin and hair.
FAQ
Will I need follow-up treatments after you cover the scar?
Most likely you will need a few sessions for best results. Scars can change over time, and all Scar Camouflage treatments are semi-permanent. However, most touch-ups are quick.
Will Scar Camouflaging make my scar completely disappear?
It depends on the scar. Some scars accept pigment better than others. The goal of the treatment is to make the scar tissue blend in with your skin tone so it’s harder to notice. The larger your scar is, the harder it will be to hide it completely. Take a look at our before and after photos for examples.
Can you conceal all types of scars?
There are some scars that cannot be covered with this method. The best candidates are smooth, flat scars. Scars with a dark border or with a raised surface (keloid) are not suitable candidates for concealment with Scar Camouflaging.
How long does it take to heal?
Scar Camouflaging can leave your skin red for a few days prior the treatment and likely a thin scab will form. It’s very important to take the after care seriously so you can heal faster without any complications. Makeup and drugstore foundations are not recommended to cover the redness, since they can interrupt the healing process. However there are some medical grade products that has been specially designed for after treatment concealments Zoe can advise you on.
What if I get another facelift/brow lift?
Our treatments should not interfere with any future procedures, but you will want to heal completely before coming back to us if you get more scars. The scars need to heal completely before they can be hidden.
How noticeable is it?
We understand that you want your face to look its best! Our goal is to hide the scar as best as we can. The best way to judge is to look at our before and after photos, then speak with us about what you’re looking for. If we can accommodate your needs, we’ll be glad to help you.
